Long winter season at kaprun
Whereas in other regions the ski season only starts in December and ends in March, the glacier on the Kitzsteinhorn offers much more flexibility for your skiing holiday thanks to the long season from the end of October to May. Here, beginners and advanced skiers will find the best conditions for practising their ideal turns as early as autumn. The local ski schools also offer private lessons and courses outside of the main season and will whisk you away to the fascinating glacier world up to the highest point in Salzburg!
Ski Resort Schmittenhöhe
On the opposite side of the valley is the Schmittenhöhe ski resort, an alternative to the ski area on the Kitzsteinhorn mountain. Since 2021 a state-of-the-art cable car called the zellamseeXpress connects Schmittenhöhe with Saalbach-Hinterglemm - thereby creating the largest interconnected ski area in Austria with 347 km of pistes for everyone from beginners to experts.
